No Other Hill but Golgotha

We have traveled far from our roots. We have succumbed to the god Mammon. We worship at the feet of Comfort and Security. We have strayed from the original Gospel of Peace and Division to a mutilated Capitalistic and Nationalistic “gospel” of a white Christ.

In case you have forgotten, remember with me the words preached by Jesus and the disciples. Repent, for the kingdom of God is at hand. Turn from your sins and believe in the crucified, buried, and resurrected Son of God. From one man, all are born in sin. Through one man, all may be set right before the eyes of a Holy God.

This message is why the early Christians were persecuted and killed. They taught one God and one Salvation. Anything else is a misrepresentation of the already complete Gospel.

There are many hills to die on. The hill of legislated marriage. The hill of young earth. The hill of prohibition. The hill of manly theology. The hill of feminism. But there should be no other hill a Christian should die on other than Golgotha.

Stephen wasn’t martyred because of his stance against marijuana. Paul wasn’t stoned for his stance against gay-marriage. Peter wasn’t imprisoned for his stance against evolution.

The early church was not persecuted because they sought political reform.

They were persecuted and killed because they stood together at the foot of the cross.

Now go. Your faith is not a bumper sticker, graphic-tee, or Bible conference.

Your faith is the shield by which you may quench the fiery darts of the evil one. Your faith is the foundation of your relationship with the Author of the universe. Your faith is your engagement ring to the King.

“Vanity of vanities. All is vanity,” outside of the hill of Golgotha.

This is terrific. Thanks for saying plainly what so many believers need to hear. We are here for the gospel, not politics. Awesome stuff.
